Darwin Nunez tipped to leave Anfield as part of overhaul

Barcelona is reportedly preparing to swoop in on Darwin Nunez amidst a potential summer of upheaval for Liverpool. The Reds are expected to undergo significant changes, both behind the scenes and on the field, with questions looming over several star players' futures.

Liverpool is set for some major shifts in the coming months. Richard Hughes is slated to join as sporting director, while transfer guru Michael Edwards will be making his return to Anfield. Additionally, there will be a significant change in management with Arne Slot poised to take over from Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds face critical decisions regarding several key players. Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all entering the final year of their contracts. The club must decide whether it would be more beneficial to cash in or attempt contract extensions.

Barcelona target Nunez as Lewandowski's replacement

Nunez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022, hasn't been widely discussed as a potential departure this summer. However, Barcelona could seize this opportunity amid uncertainty at Merseyside - especially if they decide to offload LaLiga top scorer of 2022/23 season Robert Lewandowski.

According to The Sun, Barcelona has identified Nunez as a potential addition as they look towards rebuilding their squad by offloading high earners. One such player who might be sacrificed is Lewandowski despite his indication that he isn't ready yet to stop playing at top-level football.

However, no decision about Lewandowski's future at Barcelona is expected until season-end. He recently scored from the penalty spot during Saturday's 4-2 defeat in the Girona match taking his tally up for this season up-to 17 goals - equalling Liverpool’s top scorer Mohamed Salah’s record.

Robert Lewandowski, FC Barcelona striker, said:

"Saying goodbye [to Barcelona ] is definitely out of the question for me [this summer], I feel physically good again now. I had physical problems in the first half of the season. Things got better in 2024.

"As long as I continue to feel as good as I do now and notice in training that no one is outrunning me, I want to keep playing. As of today, I say: This will continue for at least two more years. Only when I notice that I am no longer physically at top level and am in pain would I start to think. That's not the case."

Salah and Nunez reportedly on their way out

Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez could potentially be offloaded to provide incoming boss Slot with funds for his first transfer window. Liverpool is likely to enter that window following a third-place finish, with Manchester City and Arsenal solidifying their positions in the top two spots.

The upcoming summer promises to be an exciting time for football fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike. With potential transfers, contract extensions, and squad overhauls on the horizon, it will be interesting to see how these changes shape the future of clubs like Liverpool and Barcelona.
