The FA Cup returns for Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday as they host League 1 side, Morecambe. It is a gigantic clash for Morecambe as they travel to one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. Morecambe will have to do way better than they have done recently to clinch victory at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium.
Tottenham is slowly adapting to Antonio Conte’s philosophy and churning out good results in the Premier League. However, they suffered a big setback on Wednesday through a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Since recovering from the big coronavirus outbreak, Spurs has managed to deliver good performances in the Premier League. They managed to hold Liverpool for an entertaining 2-2 draw in North London. The impressive performance against Liverpool was followed by two victories against West Ham and Crystal Palace in Carabao Cup and Premier League, respectively.
Spurs did drop points against Southampton during the festive period but showed great character to start the year with a 1-0 victory over Watford. They remain in the hunt for a place in the top four, while domestic competitions are the only opportunities for silverware this season.
On the other hand, Morecambe had a disastrous festive period in League One. They suffered three defeats in the league during December, ending the month with one solitary point from possible 12 points. However, they started the new year with a thrilling 4-3 win against Doncaster.
Morecambe needs to start churning out more wins in League 1 during the second half of the season to avoid relegation. A victory away at Spurs can be the ideal tonic for them to go on a strong run during the second half of the season.
We are backing Tottenham Hotspurs to clinch a comfortable victory against Morecambe on Sunday. Conte will most likely rotate his team since they played against Chelsea in mid-week, but Spurs will still have enough firepower to seal a place in the next round of the FA Cup.
