The Gunners have been carrying big injury list this season

In a bid to bolster their defensive department, Arsenal has shown interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain right-back Nordi Mukiele. This move comes as the Gunners seek to address their injury woes and improve squad depth.

The current season has seen several key players from Mikel Arteta's team sidelined due to fitness issues. Takehiro Tomiyasu (calf), Ben White (knee), and Oleksandr Zinchenko (calf) have all been out of action for significant periods. The recent 5-0 victory against Crystal Palace on January 20 saw central defender Gabriel substituted, raising concerns about another potential injury.

The addition of Mukiele could provide a much-needed solution to these problems, given his versatility and ability to cover multiple positions across the back four.

Nordi Mukiele will bring the much-needed versatility

Primarily a right-back, Mukiele is also capable of playing the centre-back role on either side. This flexibility makes him an attractive prospect for any team dealing with injuries or looking for additional coverage in defence.

Despite being a former France international, this season has seen him start just four Ligue 1 matches and largely play a squad role at PSG. Given these circumstances, it may be beneficial for both parties if he completes a short spell at the Emirates.

There will be many names for right-back spot

However, securing regular playing time might not be straightforward for Mukiele at Arsenal. With Ben White now fully fit and Takehiro Tomiyasu soon expected back from the AFC Asian Cup, competition for minutes at right-back will be intense.

Additionally, Jurrien Timber is currently undergoing rehabilitation following a cruciate ligament tear but is expected back in action within months. His return will further intensify competition for the coveted spot in the Arsenal squad.

While signing Nordi Mukiele could be a strategic move for Arsenal, the player will need to prove his worth amidst stiff competition. For sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts, this potential transfer could add an exciting new dynamic to the team's performance in the coming months.
