Jorginho’s future hangs in balance at Emirates with no decision from club

Arsenal midfielder, Jorginho, is nearing the end of his contract with no signs of renewal talks in sight. His agent has hinted at a potential move back to Italy, stirring up speculation and concern among fans and club bosses alike.

Jorginho's contract with Arsenal is set to expire at the end of the current season. Despite being a key player since his arrival from Chelsea in January last year for £12m, there have been no formal discussions about extending his stay at Emirates Stadium. If things remain as they are, he could potentially leave the club without any financial gain for Arsenal.

His agent Joao Santos has revealed that neither party has initiated formal talks to extend Jorginho’s tenure in North London. This lack of action fuels speculation about a possible return to Italy for the 32-year-old midfielder.

Italy return on Jorginho’s mind for summer

Santos hasn't shied away from discussing a potential move back to Serie A club or his client. It wouldn't be unfamiliar territory for Jorginho who started his career with Hellas Verona before moving on to Napoli in 2014 where he made 160 appearances prior to joining Chelsea in 2018.

Joao Santos, Jorginho's agent, said:

"He is out of contract with the Gunners, we will talk to them because he is doing well. If they need him from next season..."

"It's always like this in football: Jorginho has played in Italy all his life, he likes it a lot, why say no? He'd suit Lazio more, for the presence of coach [Maurizio] Sarri who already knows his characteristics very well."

"But also Juve, who have a great director of sport like Cristiano Giuntoli, who he spent many years with at Napoli. I would not rule out a return to Napoli with new coach [Francesco] Calzona, who used to work with Sarri before that."

Santos had previously suggested that a reunion between Jorginho and former Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri could be tempting before Sarri left Stadio Olimpico. However, nothing concrete has been confirmed yet regarding this possibility.

Jorginho want to win Premier League title with Gunners

Despite all this uncertainty surrounding his future, Jorginho himself remains focused on performing well on the pitch rather than getting involved in contract negotiations or transfer speculations. He confirmed that while there haven't been any talks over a new deal yet, he is committed towards giving his best performance for Arsenal.

Jorginho, Arsenal midfielder, said:

“I am trying to enjoy the moment, to be honest. We haven’t spoken about it (my contract) and I just want to win games with Arsenal.”

Since joining Arsenal just over eighteen months ago, Jorginho has made 44 appearances in all competitions for the club. His only goal came in a resounding 6-0 Champions League victory against French side Lens earlier this season.

The future of Jorginho at Arsenal remains uncertain as contract renewal talks are yet to begin. With his agent not ruling out a move back to Italy, fans and club bosses alike will be keenly watching how this situation unfolds. Despite the uncertainty, Jorginho remains committed to his role on the pitch, providing some solace for Arsenal supporters during these uncertain times.
