The Qatari based network has signed a four year extension to continue carrying the competition stateside

Broadcasting giant BeIN Sport has secured the exclusive rights to the Copa Libertadores in the United States and Canada for another four seasons, making it the only destination for South America's premier club competition - the South American equivalent of the UEFA Champions League.

As well as retaining its rights to the Libertadores, it will also continue to show coverage of the Copa Sudamericana, the second tier continental club competition in South America, effectively its equivalent of the UEFA Europa League.

Fans in the US and Canada will need BeIN Sports subscriptions to follow their favourite South American teams in these competitions.

This is a big win for BeIN Sports in the region as the United States has a well documented latin population, many of whom passionately follow football and like to follow and support teams from their home countries in such high profile tournaments.

This latest agreement between BeIN Sports and CONMEBOL, South American football's governing body, will see the network air coverage in both English and Spanish across different channels, and even on its free-to-air channel BeIN Sports Xtra.

As well as on linear television channels, matches will also be available to watch via live streaming on the BeIN Sports Connect live streaming platform.

Managing Director of BeIN Sports US and Canada, Antonio Briceño, said of the renewed deal:

“We at BeIN Sports are proud of the continued partnership with CONMEBOL as it reinforces our commitment to bring historic soccer tournaments closer to sports fans in the region,”

“This agreement continues to highlight the expansion of soccer in the United States and Canada, along with a growing influence from South American soccer.”

Meanwhile, Commercial Director of CONMEBOL, Juan Emilio Roa said:

“We are pleased to extend our alliance and have the collaboration of a multi-platform reference partner for sports worldwide, such as BeIN Sports, which will allow us to expose the best of our soccer to a vast audience in the United States and Canada.”

This agreement continues to maintain BeIN Sports' impressive portfolio of football rights in the North American region, a key and growing market for the sport.

BeIN Sports executives will be pleased to keep hold of the rights to these two competitions which have huge popularity in the Latin world, including in the United States and Canada.
