The Qatari-based giant will continue to bring Turkish top flight football to global markets

beIN Sports have renewed their broadcast agreement with the Turkish Super Lig. The new two-year agreement will begin this August and run until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The deal, which has reportedly cost beIN in the region of $370m per season, allows them to distribute the Turkish Super Lig across their worldwide channels. In regions where they have coverage, like the MENA region and the United States, beIN will show top flight matches. In areas of the world where beIN Sports is not present, they will be free to sell on those rights to other providers.

The two agreed an initial global TV rights deal back in 2016 and their partnership will now continue for another two full seasons at least, with another renewal possibly on the horizon.

The Turkish Super Lig is attempting to increase its global reach and capitalise on the Cindarella story which saw Trabzonspor win their first league title since 1984 this season.

Games are typically made available across beIN's network of traditional TV channels and also on their dedicated live streaming service beIN Sports Connect. Fans in the US will also be able to access the Turkish Super Lig through beIN via services like Fubo TV, Sling and Fanatiz.

Turkish Football Federation President Mehmet Büyükekşi said of the deal:

“After a meeting with the CEO of beIN Media Group, Mr. Yousef Al-Obaidly, we improved the terms of the agreement and finalized the broadcasting issue that our football fans have been eagerly waiting for,”

“I hope that our cooperation with beIN Media Group, who started to support Turkish football with Digiturk in 2001, who is a pioneer in football broadcasting and who makes significant investments in Turkey, will continue for many years.”

The Turkish Super Lig is very popular in the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) and will continue to be available in these markets thanks to beIN Sports. This agreement also affords the league the opportunity to branch out into markets in which they want to increase their visibility, like the United States.

beIN Sports are also attempting to reconcile with the Italian Serie A, with whom they have a fractured relationship. After some disagreements over piracy, the two parted ways a number of years ago, and since then the Italian top flight has had no regional broadcast partner in the MENA region. The two are reportedly in talks to put a new deal on the table to bring Serie A football back to beIN and back to the Middle East.

This is the latest in a series of high profile football TV rights deals signed across the world as broadcasters scramble to secure rights ahead of the new season. The most famous football league in the world, the English Premier League, has also been signing deals with various international broadcasters this summer ahead of the next campaign.
