Luke Shaw’s absence can leave big void in Manchester United’s defence

Manchester United's manager, Erik ten Hag, has recently provided an update on the fitness status of left-back player Luke Shaw. This comes ahead of their anticipated clash against Luton Town.

Shaw, who is 28 years old, has had a challenging season due to recurring injuries. Despite these setbacks, he managed to contribute an assist in 14 games across various competitions. However, his injuries have caused him to miss out on 16 games this season.

After a month-long layoff last month, Shaw made a comeback during the Premier League match against Aston Villa where Manchester United secured a 2-1 win. Unfortunately, he was subbed off in the second half as a precautionary measure.

It will be touch and go for Luke Shaw this weekend

In light of the upcoming league clash at Luton Town scheduled for Sunday (February 18), Ten Hag hinted that there might be potential for Shaw to feature in this weekend's game. This news comes as relief for many fans who are eager to see him back on the field.

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, said:

“Yes, so he is doubtful for the weekend, but we are positive he can make it, So, he fell out (of the game), it was a precaution (to substitute him), and I think it was the right decision, especially when you, afterwards, win the game. But we are working to Sunday.”

Since his return from injury during the FA Cup fourth round win at Newport County (4-2) on January 28th, Manchester United has seen four victories across different competitions - three being in league matches.

Every match is crucial for United’s UCL qualification

Ten Hag’s team is currently enjoying an unbeaten streak across six games in all competitions this year - winning five out of those six matches. Their impressive performance has propelled them up to sixth place in the league standings.

They are now just six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur (41 points), who occupy the final UEFA Champions League spot with only fourteen more games remaining this season.

The Red Devils' recent form and potential return of key players like Shaw could be pivotal in their quest to secure a Champions League spot. As the season progresses, sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike will be keenly watching how Manchester United's journey unfolds.

While injuries have been a significant setback for Luke Shaw this season, his potential return could provide a much-needed boost for Manchester United. With the team's current form and aspirations for a Champions League spot, every game counts - making Shaw's fitness update an essential piece of news for all fans.
