Don Hutchinson believes that Son Heung-min is outperforming Man City's goal machine

In the world of football, form is everything. It can make or break a player's reputation, and it can significantly impact a team's performance. Recently, ESPN pundit Don Hutchison weighed in on the current form of two of the Premier League's biggest stars: Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min and Manchester City's Erling Haaland.

Tottenham captain Son has been in exceptional form this season. The South Korean forward has already netted six goals in just eight Premier League games for Spurs. His scoring spree includes a hat-trick against Burnley, a brace against Arsenal and a goal against Liverpool.

Son's performances have not gone unnoticed. He was awarded the Premier League Player of the Month for September, a testament to his consistent and high-quality displays on the pitch.

What did Hutchinson say?

Speaking on ESPN FC, Don Hutchinson said:

“You can’t say he’s [Haaland] on top form, can you? In eight games, you can’t. If the question is, who do you think the best striker in world football and the Premier League is, it’s Erling Haaland.”

“But who’s been in amazing form in the first eight games of the season? It’s Son, [Alexander] Isak and [Mohamed] Salah.”

Hutchison, while acknowledging Haaland's status as one of the best strikers in world football, stated that on current form, Son, along with Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak, are outperforming the City man.

This analysis provides a snapshot of the current state of play in the Premier League. While form is temporary and class is permanent, the current form of players can significantly influence the outcome of games and, ultimately, the season.

Haaland's dip in form

On the other hand, Erling Haaland is currently experiencing a slight dip in form. The 23-year-old, known for his goal-scoring prowess, has not found the back of the net for Man City since his goal against Nottingham Forest on September 23. This is a noticeable drought for a player of Haaland's caliber.

In football, the tide can turn quickly, and a player's form can change in the blink of an eye. While Son is currently enjoying a purple patch, Haaland is going through a lean phase. However, both players have proven their worth and ability on numerous occasions, and it's only a matter of time before they both hit their stride again.
