The CONMEBOL-UEFA Cup of Champions returns tonight at Wembley Stadium in London

Copa America champions Argentina meet Euro 2020 winners Italy at Wembley Stadium tonight to determine the winner of the first "Finalissima" in decades. It's a highly anticipated match and a very difficult one to call. Nonetheless, we've taken a shot at it. Read below to see our match preview for tonight's clash.

Prediction: Italy 1-1 Argentina
Tip: Goals Under 2.5 | Argentina to Lift the Trophy

Key Points:

1. Italy have scored more than one goal in just two of their last nine games
2. Argentina have scored more than one goal in three of their last nine games
3. Argentina are unbeaten in 31 games and have beaten Italy four times in a row

The major leagues are done and the Champions of Europe have been crowned but football is by no means out for summer. This week sees a series of very high profile international matches hit our screens including the return of the CONMEBOL-UEFA Cup of Champions, otherwise known as the Finalissima.

The Finalissima is a kind of international super cup co-organised by the South American and European confederations to pit the winner of the Copa America against the winner of the European Championship. Its return has been met with a lot of enthusiasm by fans.

This year's edition will feature Copa America winners Argentina taking on European champions Italy at Wembley Stadium in England, the site on which the latter won Euro 2020 last summer.

It has all the hallmarks of being a very watchable encounter but also a very close one with few goals. Neither of these sides are used to banging in the goals of late. Italy have managed more than one goal in a match just twice in their last nine games. Argentina hold a similatly dismal record, doing so just three times in their last nine.

We expect this low scoring to continue, especially considering the defensive and organisational capabilities of both sides and their coaches. Italy will be looking to keep things particularly tight as they continue to reel from a very poor run of form since winning Euro 2020. This dreadful period has seen them miss out on the Qatar World Cup and win just two of their last seven games.

Argentina are in a very different run of form. The Copa America champions are unbeaten in their last 31 games and look just as indomitable as Mancini's Italy did during their own world record 37-game run, which was ended by Spain last October. Lionel Scaloni's side will have their minds set on breaking that record.

To keep the run going they will need to beat Italy at Wembley tonight, and fortunately for them, history is on their side. The Argentines have won their last four against Italy, with the Italians failing to beat Argentina since 1987.

We feel that when you compare the form and the historical records, this is a game there for Argentina to win. However, we don't think it will be easy. We expect a dogged, low scoring tussle between these two giants, which will ultimately end in an Argentine victory.

Look for 1-0 Argentina, or 0-0/1-1 and Argentina to lift the trophy after extra time and possibly penalties. Due to the low scoring nature of both sides in recent games, we're predicting goals to be under 2.5

In summary, our tips are Goals Under 2.5 and Argentina to lift the trophy. Our correct score prediction is 1-1 in normal time and Argentina to win AET or on penalties.
