Huge American broadcaster will air majority of French Cup games across various different channels

US based TV network FOX has successfully picked up the rights to the Coupe de France, the Premier knockout cup competition in France.

While the Coupe de France may not be the oldest club competition in the world - that distinction goes to the English FA Cup, it is without doubt the biggest, with more than 8000 teams entering in the preliminary stages.

Teams from all over France and its overseas territories and former colonies take part, making it one of the most fascinating knockout football tournaments on the planet.

Ligue 1 sides enter at the Round of 64, the eighth round of the competition, and this is when many see the real tournament kicking off. This season's eighth sound begins today, January 6th, and FOX will be the place to be to watch the likes of PSG, Lyon and Marseille play as the competition heats up in the final rounds.

Fixtures from the Coupe de France are set to be broadcast on several different FOX channels including FOX Soccer Plus, FOX Deportes (the network's dedicated Spanish-speaking channel) and FS2.

This latest pick up from FOX bolsters their football portfolio, with the broadcasting network having renewed its linear TV deal with Major League Soccer (MLS) late last year, retaining its domestic rights for that competition until 2026.

Elsewhere, domestic rights for the Coupe de France were won by BeIN Sports and FTV, with the two networks set to share coverage of the behemoth tournament inside France until 2026.
