Arsenal currently leads the charge in Premier League title race

Belgian professional footballer, Jeremy Doku has recently expressed his views on the standards of top Premier League teams. He acknowledged that while Arsenal and Liverpool are 'top teams', it is Manchester City who have set the 'highest standards' in recent years.

Manchester City has been a dominant force in the Premier League, clinching five out of six top-flight titles under their esteemed manager Pep Guardiola. Their impressive performance also led them to register a treble last season. This dominance and high standard set by Man City have been recognized by players across various leagues.

Jeremy Doku, who moved to Etihad this summer from Rennes for £55.5m, is one such player who acknowledges this supremacy. As he embarks on his journey with Cityzens, he hopes to become a Premier League champion for the first time in his career.

Arsenal bottled from similar situation last season

Currently sitting third in the table with seven games left – just one point behind second-placed Liverpool and leaders Arsenal – Man City is still very much involved in an incredibly tense title race. Last season saw Gunners leading the top-flight table for an unprecedented 248 days - a record for any team that failed to secure the Premier League title eventually. However, despite their strong performance throughout most of last season, they fell short when it mattered most.

Manchester City winger, Jeremy Doku, said:

‘This team has the highest standards, We just want to win every game and then we will look where we are at the end of the season. The title race is exciting. Arsenal and Liverpool are top teams, and the reality now is that we are third with only one point less than them with games to come.

‘All we are doing now is just focusing game-by-game and on us. We will just try to win every game that we have to play and then we can calculate and see what the other teams do. The big focus is just on how we perform and play the games.’

Liverpool remains as another formidable contender having stopped Man City from winning another trophy during 2019-20 campaign.

Manchester City still favorites to win this season

Guardiola recently commented on how challenging it is to win the Premier League compared to other championships like Champions league amid their ongoing fight with Arsenal and Liverpool. This statement reflects not only on Guardiola’s respect towards these competitors but also highlights how competitive English football can be at its highest level.

While there are several strong contenders within the Premier League, Manchester City's consistent performance and high standards have set them apart in recent years. As the current season progresses, it will be interesting to see how these top teams fare against each other in their quest for the coveted Premier League title.
