Chelsea midfielder scored his first two goals of the season in win over Crystal Palace

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has praised midfielder Conor Gallagher as a "priceless" asset to the team. The 24-year-old's two goals led Chelsea to a triumphant victory against Crystal Palace, further cementing his importance in the squad.

Gallagher, who had previously been on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea, showcased his prowess by cancelling out Jefferson Lerma's opener and scoring again in the 91st minute. Enzo Fernandez then added a late third goal to seal a 3-1 win for Chelsea.

Pochettino lauded Gallagher’s commitment to the team.

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, said:

"He is always trying to compensate in every situation, in offensive and defensive situations. It's priceless to have a player like him."

Poch feels Gallagher is "committed" to Chelsea

Despite being contracted with Chelsea until next season ends, there are speculations about Gallagher moving away from the club he has been part of since he was eight years old. Tottenham has been suggested as one potential destination for him this summer.

However, Pochettino believes that Gallagher is committed to staying at Chelsea.

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, continued:

"He has always told me it is [his intention] to stay in Chelsea."

The England midfielder’s goals against Crystal Palace marked his first of this Premier League season. Despite this being his first goal-scoring game of the season, he has made significant contributions throughout with 23 league appearances so far under Pochettino.

Petr Cech also a big fan of Gallagher

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech was also quick to heap praise on the midfielder on Sky Sports.

Sky Sports pundit, Petr Cech, said:

"You find that even young players can have special abilities to be a leader. Conor is one of those players - he's always worked hard. He is one of the captains in the making."

The recent victory against Crystal Palace was Chelsea's second consecutive win, following their 3-1 triumph over Aston Villa in the FA Cup. Gallagher also scored in that game and is determined to maintain this momentum with upcoming fixtures against title challengers Liverpool and Arsenal.

Conor Gallagher’s performance has not only earned him praise from his manager but also positioned him as a key player for Chelsea. His commitment to improvement indicates a promising future for both him and the club.
