Former Republic of Ireland star heaps praise on the Midlands club and their manager

Former Aston Villa striker Tony Cascarino has made a bold prediction for the upcoming Premier League season. He has backed his former club, Aston Villa, to finish above Tottenham Hotspur, despite the latter's strong start to the season.

Currently sitting fifth in the Premier League table, just a point behind Tottenham, Aston Villa is gearing up for a crucial clash in London next Sunday. The team is hoping to secure a win that would see them leapfrog Ange Postecoglu's injury-hit Tottenham side.

Tony Cascarino gives Villa his backing

Cascarino, speaking to TalkSPORT, praised Postecoglu's work with Spurs but expressed his belief in Unai Emery's leadership at Villa.

He attributed Villa's success so far this season to Emery's ability to create a strong and cohesive team setup, get the best out of full-backs Lucas Digne and Matty Cash, and weaponise a powerful forward line based on pace and power.

TalkSPORT pundit, Tony Cascarino, said:

"Postecoglu has done incredibly well. But I'm going to go more for Unai Emery because I think I'll be proven right that Villa will finish above Spurs by the end of the season and make the Champions League spot."

"They got a really good team, and I love the way they set up. They will go in the transfer market in January and improve what they've already got. I like a lot of their players, I like the way their full-backs from Digne to Matty Cash are used.

"They have a really strong midfield - Luiz, John McGinn, and Ramsey could be back soon. The forward line picks itself, pace and power, I think they will finish above Spurs and will be an extraordinary achievement if they make Champions League football, which I think they will."

Spurs and Villa face off this weekend

Despite a strong start to the season that saw them top the Premier League table for several weeks, Tottenham has recently suffered due to injuries and suspensions. Recent defeats to Chelsea and Wolves have seen them drop to fourth place.

As the Premier League season continues, all eyes will be on Aston Villa and Tottenham. Will Cascarino's prediction come true, or will Tottenham overcome their challenges and secure their place in the Champions League? Only time will tell.

These two will face off this Sunday afternoon from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Aston Villa will be broadcast on Sky Sports TV and via live streaming on the Sky Go app or Sky Glass.
