Chelsea made a scintillating comeback at Stamford Bridge against United

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez and Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount found themselves at odds in the aftermath of Chelsea's thrilling victory over Manchester United. The tension between the two players was palpable, with Fernandez labeling his former teammate a "coward" following an intense Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.

The drama unfolded when Mount, who had been introduced into the game in the 86th minute, seemed set to lead United to a dramatic three-point victory after they came back from a 2-0 deficit to lead 3-2. However, as injury time drew on, it was Chelsea who had the last laugh with an unforgettable finale.

Fans also gave negative reaction to Mount's return

Mount's return to Stamford Bridge was met with mixed reactions from fans. Having joined Chelsea at just six years old in 2005 and spending 18 years there before making a £55million move to Old Trafford last summer, he was greeted by boos as he stepped onto his former home ground. Every touch of the ball by him thereafter also elicited jeers from Blues supporters.

One of Mount’s first involvements in the match led him into conflict with Fernandez. The pair briefly went head-to-head before being separated by their respective teammates. Despite this altercation and continuous booing from fans, it appeared that England international would have the final say as United maintained their lead deep into injury time.

However, just when it seemed like all hope was lost for Chelsea fans, Cole Palmer stepped up and converted a penalty past the hundred-minute mark to level matters. Incredibly enough, Palmer struck again seconds later with a deflected shot that sent home fans into wild celebrations.

Fernandez went after Mount at full-time whistle

Amid these celebrations though, Fernandez did not forget his earlier clash with Mount. At the final whistle, he approached Mount and vented his feelings.

Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea midfielder, said:

"This is Chelsea, coward, coward, coward."

Despite Fernandez's heated words, Mount remained composed. He responded to the Argentinian midfielder with a smile before walking away. However, this incident marked another low point in what has been an injury-plagued campaign for the 25-year-old who had just scored his first club goal in a 1-1 draw at Brentford on Saturday.

This match was not only a thrilling display of football but also highlighted the intense personal rivalries that can exist between players on opposing teams. It will be interesting to see how these dynamics play out in future encounters between Chelsea and Manchester United.
