Mason Greenwood is reportedly target of many clubs for summer

Getafe, the Spanish football club, has expressed satisfaction with their on-loan Manchester United striker, Mason Greenwood. However, the 22-year-old's future lies in the hands of his parent club, Manchester United.

Greenwood is currently enjoying a season-long loan at Getafe from Manchester United. His performance has been impressive so far; he has scored eight goals in 27 games across all competitions. This record clearly demonstrates his potential and value to any team he plays for.

Despite this success and their apparent desire to keep him on board, Getafe manager acknowledges that they have no control over what happens next. The decision about where Greenwood will play after this season ends is entirely up to Manchester United.

Jose Bordalas, Getafe manager, said:

"In the end his club decides and also the boy's intentions regarding his future count. But I can say we are happy with his behaviour and his performance."

Manchester United may look to fetch  £40 million

Recent reports suggest that if a permanent transfer were on the table, Manchester United could demand as much as £40 million for Greenwood. Unfortunately for Getafe, such a hefty fee is beyond their financial capabilities. As an alternative solution, they have expressed interest in extending his loan stay beyond summer.

However, according to sources familiar with the situation at Man Utd, it seems unlikely that another loan deal will be offered. Instead, Man Utd appears more inclined either to cash-in by selling him or retain him within their ranks.

Ball lies in Manchester United’s court for summer

The uncertainty surrounding Greenwood’s future has attracted attention from some of top clubs like Barcelona and Juventus who are potentially interested in signing him should he become available for transfer.

Intriguingly enough though there remains a possibility of a controversial return back home to Old Trafford as some of his teammates are open to welcoming him back into the fold despite past issues which led to his initial departure on loan. New chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently refused to close the door on Greenwood, leaving room for speculation about a potential return.

Manchester United chief, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, said:

"We will make a decision. I don’t know if he could still have a future. All I can do is talk about the principle of how we will approach decisions like that. Is he the right type of footballer? Are we happy with that? Is he a good person or not?

“There is no decision that’s been made. He’s on loan obviously but he’s not the only one.

While Getafe is happy with Greenwood's performance and would like to keep him, his future remains uncertain. The decision lies with Manchester United who could either cash-in on him or decide to keep him. Meanwhile, other European giants are closely monitoring the situation. Regardless of where he ends up playing next season, one thing is clear: Mason Greenwood has made a significant impact at Getafe and will continue to be a player to watch in the future.
