The Premier League returns with a blockbuster showdown on Saturday afternoon

Manchester City and Liverpool will return to Premier League action when they lock horns at the Etihad Stadium this weekend, following the conclusion of the international break.

With a quarter of the season remaining, Pep Guardiola’s side find themselves eight points behind table-topping Arsenal, while Jurgen Klopp’s team occupy sixth place in the standings.

Saturday’s showdown promises to be one of the top fixtures in European football this weekend – and we are here to explain how to watch Manchester City vs Liverpool in the UK.

Preview: Manchester City vs Liverpool

Manchester City could be without star striker Erling Haaland this weekend, as the Norwegian did not feature for his country during the international break due to injury.

Having scored a whopping 42 goals in 37 games this season – including 28 in 26 Premier League appearances – Haaland will obviously be missed. Still, City have more than enough quality to cope without the 22-year-old.

Guardiola’s men head into Saturday’s clash on a six-match winning streak across all competitions, with a 7-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig preceding a 6-0 crushing of Burnley before the international break.

When you look at the bigger picture, Man City have lost just one of their last 14 encounters, although they did suffer a 1-0 defeat at Anfield back in October.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have lost each of their previous two outings, suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth before enduring a humiliating Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid.

There is no hiding the fact that Klopp’s boys have been wildly inconsistent this season, with a 7-0 triumph at Old Trafford coming just days before the loss at Bournemouth. For that reason, it is difficult to predict how the Reds will fare at the Etihad.

Man City vs Liverpool prediction

With or without Haaland, Manchester City should be too strong for Liverpool. We expect Guardiola’s side to score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory over Klopp’s inconsistent Reds, keeping the pressure on title-chasing Arsenal in the process.
